Ralph Nimick joined Leidel & Kracht as Team Leader Human Resources on December 1, 2023. In this interview, he provides insights into his varied day-to-day work, the challenges of his job, and his ambitious goals for the future of the Human Resources department.
Change, reorientation, variety. When asked to describe his work at Leidel & Kracht, these are the three keywords that come to mind for Ralph Nimick. That's because the work of the HR team leader is anything but monotonous. "Every day is very varied, with a lot of communication both within and outside the company. Basically, I can hardly ever say in the morning what I'll be doing by the end of the day," Nimick explains. "Of course, I have a calendar with lots of appointments, but because I deal with people a lot, new topics and questions always come up."
From sales representative to HR manager
Before Ralph Nimick decided to join Leidel & Kracht, he worked for many years at a large personnel service provider, initially as a sales representative. "At a personnel service provider, you are always a sales representative, HR manager, and entrepreneur in your own company. I realized that HR work is a very exciting field for me, one in which I was able to get heavily involved and develop further within the company, which made me very happy."
The HR department of the future and further successes
The central goal of his work at Leidel & Kracht is digitalization: "I would like to move away from paper and toward digitalization in the human resources department," he says, describing his vision. "However, we must not forget the human aspect. We have to view our colleagues as customers – and 'serve' them accordingly." Of course, Nimick would also like to build on his successes from previous projects. One project in particular fills him with pride: "In Mönchengladbach, I supervised and was responsible for a project to either close down or spin off a training association for electronic and mechanical apprenticeships. Alternatively, a buyer would have had to be found," says the HR manager. "Due to a corporate restructuring and the physical distance between the company in Remscheid and the training association in Mönchengladbach, the association could not be maintained. However, in cooperation with the training manager, I was able to maintain the training network and make it independent. This secured 10 jobs and the training, retraining, and further education of many people."
